News & InfoRemodeling With Built Green™The ever evolving picture of the green building landscape appears to be ready for the next step at Built Green™ OMB. With more interest and inquiries from both consumers and remodelors the Built Green Committee has started the process to adopt a Remodelor checklist that will be similar to the single-family checklist that currently exists. "The benefits that are realized in new family construction through Built Green™ can also be realized through the remodeling of a home", said Scott Bergford, the 2007 Built Green™ Committee Chair. This comment came on the heels of a discussion by the Committee about the abundance of voluntary choices that a builder or remodelor can make when using a checklist to certify a home. Through the Built Green™ program a builder/remodelor has the advantage of the checklist to aide in their understanding of what a client is looking for, especially as it relates to environmentally friendly building techniques. The voluntary aspect of the Built Green™ program has drawn the support and praise of consumers, environmentalists and builders that have both participated and seen the results from the utilization of the checklist. In part, the success of the program has been based on the ability of builders to maintain their individual business models while applying the green building standards. The Built Green™ Committee meets on the 4th Thursday of each month at the OMB office. If you have any questions contact us at (360)754-0912 or through the our website at www.builtgreenomb.org.
