Olympia Master Builders - 2009 Street of Dreams Site Selected

In late September, the Olympia Master Builders (OMB) Executive Committee, acting as Site Selection Committee, selected the McAllister Gardens development for the site of the 2009 Street of Dreams event. For the first time in recent memory, the Site Selection Committee had to choose a location, among three worthy potential developments.

McAllister Gardens was chosen for a number of reasons. This gated community is in the Urban Growth Area, which allows for County permitting process, yet is served by City of Lacey utilities. The lots are generous and ample, averaging just over one-half acre each. The development is in close proximity to I-5 near the Hawk's Prairie exit, which should attract visitors to the event from not only Thurston County, but also from cities and counties from the North.

There are five lots dedicated to the Street of Dreams, with two already reserved. The homes that are planned for these lots average between 2,500 - 3,000 square feet, and will be in the $600,000 and up price range when completed. All of the lots are owned, so any builders that are interested in participating in the 2009 Street of Dreams event should contact Stacey at the OMB office to get information on how to purchase a lot for the event.

As an added attraction to the 2009 Street of Dreams, all homes will be required to be Built Green(r) certified. Olympia Master Builders will provide information and guidance for all builders to reach an attainable level of Built Green(r) for each home.

The event is scheduled for August of 2009, and we plan to have all builders on board by December 15, 2008, in order to allow enough time to build these Dream Homes. There is already some interest from sponsors, and committee members who are ready to plan this great community event.
