Purpose of Major Councils and Committees

If you are interested in joining one of the following committees or councils, please contact the Olympia Master Builders office at 360-754-0912.

ASSOCIATES' COUNCIL: Developing and implementing programs to increase Associate member participation and recognition; serving as program committee for the Association.

MEMBERSHIP COUNCIL: Planning and developing the Association's annual membership program, with the objective of meeting the Association's targeted new member and retention goals.

REMODELORS' COUNCIL: Developing and carrying out a program to increase knowledge, professionalism and recognition of Remodelers; also setting policy for Contractors' Referral Service.

AUCTION COMMITTEE: Planning, organizing and staging our annual auction fund raiser, with emphasis on solicitation of donations.

BUILDERS' COUNCIL: Monitoring proposed new rules and regulations affecting our industry and the membership, keeping the membership informed on local government activities, testifying before and/or working on local government committees on subjects affecting our industry.

BUILDING REGULATIONS COMMITTEE: Monitoring changes in code and enforcement policy as they affect construction practices, working constructively with local building departments to maintain an ongoing line of communication and representing the membership's interests at the code enforcement level.

BUILT GREEN COMMITTEE: Developing and implementing a Built Green program for the Association, including education of members and the public.

BYLAWS COMMITTEE: Reviewing the Bylaws to identify ambiguous language, inconsistencies and relevance to actual practice or policy intent of the association; recommending Bylaws changes when necessary and overseeing approval process.

CHRISTMAS PARTY COMMITTEE: Planning, organizing and staging the association's annual Christmas Party.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE: Identifying areas of need for educating association members in the skills and knowledge required by our industry and implementing the program to provide appropriate classes.

GOLF TOURNAMENT COMMITTEE(S): Planning, organizing and promoting the association's annual golf tournament, as well as chapter tournaments. There are separate committees for the Association and for Twin Harbors, the only chapter with a tournament.

HOME SHOW COMMITTEE(S): Planning, organizing and staging the Association's annual home show, as well as those for the Lewis County and Twin Harbors. Each has a separate committee.

SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE: Conducting the annual solicitation of scholarship applicants; evaluating entries and recommending winners to the Board of Directors.

SPIKE CLUB: Developing and implementing an annual program to encourage members to seek increasingly higher Spike levels through new member recruitment efforts.

STREET OF DREAMS COMMITTEE: Recommending a site for the Street of Dreams, planning the event, soliciting builder participants in the program and organizing, implementing and advertising the show.

TOUR OF HOMES: Planning the annual Tour, soliciting builder participants, making all the necessary arrangements, and implementing the program.
