OMB Sweeps BIAW Awards!

At the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) Awards Ceremony in Spokane, held November 8, Olympia Master Builders' members cleaned house!

The Builder of the Year award was presented to OMB President Mark Shaffer of Mark's Drywall, the Associate of the Year award was presented to OMB Secretary Linda Mosier-Vaudt of Lumbermens Pro Build and the Remodeler of the Year award was presented to OMB Immediate Past President Brian Panush of Panush Construction and Remodel.

"Since the 15 local associations around Washington State nominate members, it's an honor whenever one member from OMB wins an award," commented OMB Executive Officer, Laura Kimbrough. "So to have all three awards won by OMB members is quite a statement to the caliber of OMB’s leadership."

The winner of each of the three awards is determined by a group of past recipients of each individual award. So, for example, previous years' Builder of the Year Award winners review the current year's nominees for Builder of the Year.

The past recipients judge the current nominee and assign points on their involvement over the past 18 months with their local association, their involvement with the Building Industry Association of Washington and their involvement with the National Association of Home Builders. In addition, the nominees are judged on their participation in community and civic affairs over the past 18 months. At the end of the judging, the nominees with the most points is determined the winner.

"My understanding is that no local association has ever won all three awards before," Kimbrough noted.
