News & InfoNorman A. Paulsen Award for 2006This year we celebrate the 30th recipient of the Norman A. Paulsen Memorial Service Award. This award is given in memory if an early leader in the Olympia area building industry. Norman Paulsen's character, community pride and professional ethics were a clear standard for future members to strive for. The award is given to either a builder or an associate member who best meets the criteria of leadership in the industry, participation in community affairs and high standards of professional ethics. Selection of the winner is made up by a committee of previous winners, chaired by the previous recipient. The winner of the Norman A. Paulsen Memorial Award for 2006 is Daimon Doyle of Doyle Custom Homes. Daimon is well known for his active involvement in our local association and more recently at the State level. Daimon has been elected the 2007 President of Building Industrial Association of Washington, (BIAW). Daimon's history of leadership roles at our local level include:
And Daimon is a Life Spike with 144.5 credits as of October 31, 2006. Each year, since joining our association, Daimon has participated in our association's various public service projects. In the spring of 2006, Daimon led the way for our association public service efforts in building a wheelchair accessible ramp for Ray Jeffries who had spent many months home bound. In Jeffries words, "this ramp brings freedom". For the last two years, Daimon's company worked to raise awareness in our community by building a playhouse and donating it to a local childcare facility. 2006 enjoyed Daimon's more creative and if you will "artistic direction" and leadership as he formed the first Olympia Master Builders' Lakefair drill team. To quote June Donohue during her induction speech for Daimon's installation as BIAW's 2007 President, "Daimon is loyal, vigorous, hard working, knowledgeable and thrives on challenges. He has passion and zeal. He is committed to BIAW, its members and its core ideology to protect free enterprise and housing affordability". This statement certainly applies to Daimon's commitment to Olympia Master Builders.
