TAHC Sends Out Questionnaire to Candidates

The Thurston Affordable Housing Council (TAHC) is gearing up for this fall's election season. During July, the TAHC developed a "Candidate Questionnaire" which was then sent to all candidates running for local office. The questionnaire asks candidates why they are running for office, what qualifications and experience they possess for the position they are seeking, if they feel housing is an important industry for our community's health, their views on affordable housing and land use issues.

In addition the questionnaire asks the candidate their position on economic development versus environmental regulation and asks them to list their endorsements from other individuals and/or organizations.

The TAHC has been actively reviewing candidates running for seats on Olympia, Lacey and Tumwater City Councils as well as candidates running for Commissioner for the Port of Olympia.

At this point TAHC has formally endorsed Gary Cronce for Mayor of the City of Shelton and the re-election bids of Bob Van Schoorl for Port of Olympia Commissioner and Thomas Nelson for Lacey City Council. The TAHC will continue to review candidates and determine additional endorsements throughout the summer months.
