News & InfoOver 10,000 Visit Street of DreamsThe 2006 Countrywide Home Loans Street of Dreams concluded under fair skies and hefty attendance. Some of the comments overheard on the street during the showcase of million-dollar homes were: "Wow", "Stunning", "Olympia has finally come into its own". We are certainly proud of this last statement, and believe that this show truly marked a turning point for events such as this in Thurston County. The event officially opened to the public on Saturday, September 16, and concluded on Sunday, October 1. Thanks to bus sponsor, Greene Realty Group, show goers were transported to the Street of Dreams show site from our off-site parking area. Once there, visitors were welcomed to the street, where the five homes on display were situated on spacious lots with stunning landscaping on all sides. Each home had luxury vehicles in the driveway, and top of the line furnishings and accessories on the interiors. During the sixteen-day event, more than 10,000 visitors toured these homes. This high attendance number provided excellent exposure for all participants. Among several special events and promotions during the run of the show, Friday, September 22 was OMB Member Day. All OMB members were invited to tour the homes at half price admission that day, as well as enjoy a barbeque lunch hosted and prepared by Viking Appliances staff. More than 120 OMB members turned out for this fun event on a sunny Friday afternoon. We are happy to report that several of the homes sold prior to the close of the show, and there was great interest in the remaining lots in the development. Our sources tell us that all of the Street of Dreams homes should be sold by month's end. Upon exiting from the event for the return trip to their vehicles, show visitors were encouraged to vote in the People's Choice Awards. Categories were Best Furnishings, Best Landscaping, Best Kitchen, Best Master Suite and Best in Show. Awards will be presented at a special Street of Dreams Awards Party later this month. Watch next month's issue of the Chalk Line for a complete list of Street of Dreams People's Choice Award winners. Event Chair Karen McClennen of The Olympian extends her thanks to Sunny Gill of Countrywide Home Loans for title Sponsorship of the event. Presenting sponsors included Lumbermens and The Olympian. For a complete list of other participating sponsors and committee members, see page 5.
