Chalk Line

OMB Staff Team

Karen McClennen
OMB President

This year's auction theme was "Tailgate Party" and the Olympia Master Builders (OMB) staff came dressed as referees.  When our Executive Officer, Laura Kimbrough, introduced the OMB staff she said they decided to dress as referees because they spend some of their time as OMB staff explaining to members the association "rules" and also ensuring that all of the members are playing by the "rules."

Laura said the staff had "huddled" (in keeping with the auction theme) and had come up with a more clear and concise form of communicating these rules to the members.  The staff then, to the audience's amusement, demonstrated some typical football referee calls.

Over the course of this year, I have had the privilege of getting better acquainted with the OMB staff.  However, I realize that most of our members don't have that opportunity so I wanted to give you a brief overview of each person and their area of responsibility.

Regina Adams, Receptionist
Regina is the pleasant voice you hear when you call the OMB office.  In addition to answering the phone and greeting visitors and members Regina assists staff with projects and handles other general administrative tasks such as preparing the "Mid-month Mailer" and the "Chalk Line" for mailing. Regina joined OMB in January of 2008.

Sally Darrow, Bookkeeper/Education Program
Sally provides staff support to the Budget Committee, Education Committee, and Scholarship Committee.  Sally handles the financial matters of the association and coordinates the education and scholarship programs at OMB.  In addition she coordinates the production of the Chalk Line.    Sally joined OMB in August of 2001.

Angela Barbre, Membership Marketing Coordinator
Angela provides staff support to the Membership Committee and the Spike Club. Angela coordinate OMB's membership marketing program which includes new member recruitment and retention of existing members.  Angela joined OMB in April of 2008.

Stacey Genzlinger, Director of Member Services
Stacey provides staff support to the Auction Committee, Built Green Committee, Public Relations Committee, Tour of Homes Committee and the Home Show Committee. Stacey coordinates all Thurston County events, oversees the membership program and handles all public relations matters.  Stacey joined OMB in February of 2001.

Rhonda Calkins, Director of Chapter Affairs
Rhonda provides staff support to the four county chapters. She coordinates their monthly dinner meetings and board meetings and provides staff support to the Lewis County Home Show Committee, Twin Harbors Home Show Committee, Twin Harbors Tour of Homes Committee, and Twin Harbors Golf Tournament Committee and coordinates the South Pacific Surplus Sale.  Rhonda joined OMB in September of 2003.

Will Stakelin, Director of Government Affairs
Will provides staff support to the Builders Council, Building Regulations Committee and The Affordable Housing Council.  Will handles Government Affairs and Political Affairs issues in all five counties.  He regularly meets with county and city officials to discuss issues that impact the home building industry.  Will joined OMB in May 2007.

Laura Kimbrough, Executive Officer
Laura provides staff support to the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Bylaws Committee. Laura is responsible for the day-to-day operation of OMB.  Laura joined OMB in January 2007.

To summarize our association's events, through out this year our staff will oversee; three Home Shows, three Tour of Homes, two Golf Tournaments, an Auction, a Surplus Sale, 45 Dinner meetings, 12 Board of Director meetings, 28 Education Classes, two Candidates Debates, and our annual ROII BBQ. They staff at least 20 standing committees, conduct membership drives throughout the year and are involved in more government affairs related issues than possible to list.

The success of any association is never the result of just one person. One of the things that struck me as I watched our staff interact at the auction - is that under the talented and skilled direction of our Executive Officer, Laura Kimbrough, our staff has come together as a strong, dedicated team. They are genuinely excited about their jobs and enjoy working with OMB members.
