Mason County Development Summit

On Thursday, February 21, 2008, Olympia Master Builders (OMB) hosted the First Annual Development Summit with the City of Shelton and Mason County. The theme of the Summit was "Predictability in the Process" and the goal was to discuss building related issues and establish a better understanding of the timelines for proposed new regulations and changes expected in 2008.

Approximately 30 individuals, not including City and County staff or consultants, attended the Summit. Issues and topics discussed included storm water, proposed school impact fees, Shelton's transportation plan and impact fee, GeoTech review process, utilities, Urban Growth Areas, permitting and Growth Management compliance. OMB members had an opportunity to discuss concerns with city and county building officials, engineers, inspectors, planners, public works staff and project consultants in hopes of making the building environment in Mason County better.

Andrew Spear, President of the Mason County Chapter commented, "OMB appreciates the City of Shelton and Mason County's willingness to collaborate on the Summit and providing the opportunity for our members to be proactively involved in the planning process. Follow-up meetings will be scheduled to ensure a productive and transparent process continues."
