News & Info

Shaffer Bestows Five Presidents Awards

According to OMB tradition, each year OMB's President, at their sole discretion, may make one or more special awards to members for their continuous service to the Association over a period of years.

This year Mark Shaffer bestowed the president's award on a select group of people who, by their extraordinary efforts, have made a positive impact on Shaffer's Presidency.

Don Koidahl -- MDK Construction, Inc.
Don has served as the President of the Lewis County Chapter for the past two years and has made an effort to attend all OMB Executive Committee and Board Meetings in addition to as many other events as possible. Under Don's leadership the Lewis County Chapter has grown from 92 members to their current membership of 135.

Don is a very capable membership recruiter. But his efforts don't stop there. Don has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Lewis County chapter actively participating with their community service project and as a member of the Permit Review Taskforce in Lewis County. Because of Don's efforts necessary changes are beginning to occur in the Lewis County Building Permit area.

Rob Rice -- Gemini Corporation
Rob is a "go to" guy when it comes to builder issues affecting OMB members and he always provides insight and wisdom on any issues that face OMB. This year Rob has dedicated time and effort to representing OMB on the Lacey Design Review Committee. Rob, in his calm, steady way has been able to work with the committee and get results that have protected OMB members' rights to develop and build in a manner that the market is demanding while keeping the cost of housing down.

Gary Rust -- Mutual Materials
For the past two years Gary has chaired the Tour of Homes Committee. Under Gary's leadership the Tour of Homes has grown and in fact this year included a record-breaking 30 homes. This year the committee invested in new signage and under Gary's leadership fine-tuned the judging of homes.

Paul Muldoon -- Edward Jones Investments
Paul has been OMB's membership chair for the past two years. During that time OMB has seen some staffing turnover and for periods of time during the past two years, Paul, by himself, has held the Membership Committee together and kept them on course.

Last month OMB held The Greatest Membership Drive in the History of OMB - 'An Event of Epic Proportions'. Under Paul's leadership OMB has now hit the 1000-member mark.

Debbi Boyd -- Jan Henry & Assoc. Inc., Real Estate Professionals
This year Debbi chaired the Auction Committee and it was OMB's biggest and best ever! OMB had a record number of people in attendance, a record number of items donated, a record number of companies donating items, and a record amount of money was raised for both OMB and OMB's Scholarship Program. Debbi has stepped up to the plate and organized the Spike Party and chaired the Christmas Party.
