Register Now For Stormwater
Management Certification Program

Do you need a Construction Stormwater General Permit from Ecology? If your project disturbs over an acre of land or is in a subdivision, you probably do. One of the requirements of this permit starts in October: all sites disturbing over an acre must have a Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lean (CESCL). The CESCL is trained to inspect, install and manage stormwater controls on your site. Because Ecology requires the CESCL to be on-call or on-site at all times, most companies will need more than one employee trained as CESCL.

This course is designed for residential builders and explains the erosion process and how to apply and comply with the stormwater permit. The course also provides detailed instruction on how to develop a stormwater plan, select and maintain stormwater controls, and accurately sample stormwater. The BIAW's CESCL certification class will give you the tools you need to comply with local and state stormwater requirements. This class also meets requirements for recertification.

Cost is $250 for members. $350 non-members. The class will be held at the Tyee Center in Tumwater. Please register early by calling Amanda or Jennie Fields at the BIAW 360-352-7800.

BIAW Offers DVD
The BIAW is offering a three-set DirtTime DVD for half price or $80.00. This is the ESCN TV show on erosion and sediment control BMP's. The DVD is a great reference for any builder on the how-to's of the best management practices for stormwater and erosion control. You can check it out at www.dirttimetv.com or watch a sample program on www.escn.tv. If you are interested in purchasing the DVD please call the BIAW at 360-352-7800.
