The Olympia Master Builders (OMB) will be offering the following classes in March and April for those companies and people interested in earning real estate clock hours, continuing education credits or National Association of Home Builder (NAHB) designations.

Tuesday, March 4 - Customer Service from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the OMB office. Instructor, Joseph Ratto, specializes in high quality remodeling in the greater Seattle metropolitan area. He will show you how to make your business grow by keeping your clients happy during and after the sale.

Accreditation: CGA, CGB, CGR, and Master CSP. Continuing education credit: CGA, CAPS, CGB, CGR, GMB. 7.5 Real Estate Clock Hours. Cost to attend is $155 for members and $235 for non-members.

Monday, March 10 - QuickBooks Pro Training Workshop from 8:00 to noon at the OMB office. Susan Linn from Quality Management Tax Associates, Inc. is a certified QuickBooks Trainer and CPA. In this advanced training workshop for construction businesses and contractors the instructor focuses on the topics that can help you work faster, smarter and more efficiently.

Cost to attend: $100 for members and $175 for non-members.

Monday, March 24 - Business Management for Building Professionals from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This class will be held in the South Pacific Chapter. Dale Armstrong, CGR, GMB, CAPS is the President of JAFA Enterprises, Inc. He is an outstanding speaker who enjoys teaching. This class is an updated version of the NAHB's University of Housing's Introduction to Business Management course. This course can provide you with a variety of essential "tools" for your business management toolbox.

Accreditation: CGB, CGR, CGA CAPS. 7.5 Real Estate Clock Hours. Cost to attend: $185 for members and $260 for non-members.

Friday, March 28 - Negotiating Skills for the Master Builder and Remodeler from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the OMB office. Every day requires negotiation with customer, employees, sub contractors, suppliers, and government officials. Your negotiation skills could spell the difference between profit and loss.

Accreditation: CGR, CMB, CGA credit and 7.5 Real Estate Clock Hours. Cost to attend is $150 for members and $210 for non-members.

Tuesday, April 8 - Lien Law/Public Works from 8:00 a.m. to noon and Construction Contracts from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. Larry Linville, a Seattle attorney specializing in construction law is the instructor for this popular and interesting class. In the Lien Law/Public Works class he will teach you why, where, how and when to lien a residential or commercial project, and why, where, how and when to file a claim against the general contractor's bond and retainage on a public works project within the State of Washington.

The Construction Contracts class will detail all the different clauses needed in a contract when dealing with another contractor or owner. Bring copies of your contracts!

Accreditation: CGA/CGB/ CGR Credit and 7.5 Real Estate Clock Hours when you attend both courses. Cost to attend for members: $125 each class or $220 for the both. Non-members: $190 each class or $290 for both.

Friday, April 4 - Low Impact Development from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Designed for the small builder, developer or designer.

All of your questions will be answered, including "What's in it for the builder?", "Will it cost more?" and "Where does LID fit in the with other stormwater regulations?"

Discussion will include Integrated Management Practices and other technical issues as well as strategies for working effectively with local government through the LID process.

Cost to attend for members is $75.00 and for non-members is $100.00.
